Mouse Glycan Profiling Results

Overview

This Core is conducting carbohydrate structure analysis of tissues, cells and glycan-binding protein (GBP) ligands. To this end, glycans and glycoconjugates are being isolated, fractionated and characterized by a variety of state-of-the-art analytical methods including mass spectrometric analysis using MALDI and FAB ionization methods, and ancillary methods such as ES-MS/MS to define the glycoforms present in cells and organs. This core is working to achieve high-throughput mouse glycomics. Information from this Core is being deposited into the Central Database and carbohydrate structures are being deposited into the Carbohydrate Database.

Specific Objectives

Determine carbohydrate structures elaborated by selected tissues and cells that are thought to have ligands for GBPs from wild-type mice provided by the Mouse Transgenics Core (F) and the Mouse Phenotype Core (G)
Determine carbohydrate structures of the same tissues and cells as above from glycosyltransferase knockout mouse strains bred in the Mouse Transgenics Core (F) and supplied by the Mouse Phenotype Core (G)
Determine carbohydrate structures of glycoprotein and glycolipid ligands of specific GBPs which are identified by the Protein-Carbohydrate Interaction Core (H) or by Participating Investigators
