Bangkok,Thailand
ThaiROP is a paid summer research opportunity for MIT undergraduates to perform collaborative research at the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), a world-class research institute located in Bangkok, Thailand. Participants will work with teams of Thai researchers investigating topics in translational biology. Research topics for ThaiROP 2012 include characterization of the efficacy and safety of recombinant human biologics and investigation of a biological therapy for cancer treatment . Projects for participants will focus on development of methods to characterize the activity and safety of the therapeutic proteins, such as ELISA, biopotency assays, and chromatography. In the process, participants will learn and experience aspects of translating basic research towards the development and evaluation of new and existing biological drug products. Participants will also have the opportunity to travel and participate in cultural experiences on weekends.
