Research Objectives and Progress:
The goal of the CE FRP is to use detailed simulation tools and techniques to extract simplified analytical models for several of the cellular- and molecular-level separators and subsequently use the models to design and fabricate separators with new or improved functionality.
In the area of simulation, the research team is currently working on an advanced numerical technique for modelling cells in flow, analysing quantum-mechanical effects (Casimir forces), and automatically extracting simplified models from simulation.
The research is expanded to using modelling and simulation tools to design and fabricate cellular-level separators and these separators are then used to demonstrate that electrical phenotyping can be harnessed to detect cellular mutations.
