Watch MIT Thrive

Building award-winning structures and conserving millions of gallons of water through plumbing upgrades are all part of the job for the Department of Facilities. A growing list of completed projects points to the department’s expertise as the MIT community breaks new intellectual and physical ground:

Commonly referred to as the Evolving Campus was a major building boom that enhanced emerging areas of research, supported residential and community life, and revitalized the physical campus. This initiative added to the campus new facilities including the Brain and Cognitive Sciences Complex, Simmons Hall, the Ray and Maria Stata Center for the Computer, Information, and Intelligence Sciences, and the Albert and Barrie Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center, as well as graduate residences at 224 Albany Street and 70 Pacific Street. These completed buildings as well as the new ones in construction will keep MIT at the forefront of education and research.
