Why: Ever trolling for cool Christmas-useful ornament possibilities, I came across this model while looking through one volume of the collection of diagrams of models published in Oru magazine. It's really beautiful, and has an amazing step where the flower opens out and pops into place. It is one of those pre-crease-forever and then fold everything all at once models, though, so it's a bit tricky to do. (Lunatic that I am, I taught this to a batch of beginners at a local origami meeting... Everyone ended up with a successful model, but it took a while. What was I thinking?)
