Barbour's "Lobster"
What: Lobster
By: Anita Barbour
From: Unpublished; but lots of Anita's other stuff is online at http://www.ulster.net/~spider/diagrams.htm
Why: Anita's made this excellent, easy Lobster, and I had this cool paper. And I was gathering models for an exhibit in my local library, and thought it'd be nice to have some New-England-ish models grouped together.
What's more New England than a Lobster?
LaVin's "Loon" (from Montroll's "Duck")
What: Loon
By: modification of a Duck by John Montroll
From: original model in Origami Birds by John Montroll
Why: In keeping with my idea to have some New England themed models in my display, I wanted a Loon. There's a curious lack of Origami Loons out there, it turns out. So I found a nice duck, and played around with the head, wings and paper near the chest to try and get some Loon-like details. I'm rather pleased with the result, even if I do say so myself.
Yoshizawa's "Mice"
What: Mice
By: Akira Yoshizawa
From: Creative Origami (in Japanese)
Why: My section of wet-folded models for my library display was sparser than I wanted, and for some reason I thought of these mice. In typical Yoshizawa-model fashion, the mice required many practice versions to find good (and subtle) angle choices to create the postures. It was well worth it, though. The final models were wet folded from Canson pastel paper.
