The O.R.C.A. Team

1998 ORCA Team

Who We Are

Project ORCA is an MIT student group interested in Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology. Our main activity is constructing entries for the annual AUV competition. This competition, organized by Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR), is designed to

... advance the state-of-the-art of AUVs by challenging a new generation of engineers to perform realistic missions in the remote underwater environment.

MIT won first place in the 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2004 competitions, came in second place in the 2000 competition, and fourth place in the 2003 competition.
