The phone hall.

This long, narrow room gets its name from the three house phone lines that come into the house here. In addition to the three phones, this room has two large bulletin boards, which are usually filled with announcements for various campus and neighborhood events and postcards from house alums. We write phone messages and other announcements for our housemates on the whiteboard, along with random doodles of baby ducks. The phone hall.

During study conditions, which begin at 7pm every school night, one person is assigned to answer the phone. This chore goes by the evocative name of "hermiting." Signups for other house duties, which include wake-ups, cleaning the kitchen after meals, driving van runs to campus, and Saturday worksessions, are tacked up on the bulletin board.

The house lost-and-found accumulates here, so take a look at the sundry floss along the walls to see if you recognize anything. Then, we'll take the stairs down to the Pit.
