Summer 2015 Instructors| Residential Tutors|Residential Assistants Instructors
Hello! I'm a PhD student studying image processing. (I'm one of those electrical engineers who doesn't actually do anything related to electricity, but don't worry--the electrical engineering class will still be all about how to make circuits work!) Before coming to MIT, I majored in electrical engineering at BYU. When I'm not studying, I like to read and write fantasy and science fiction stories. This is my first year teaching for WTP and I'm really excited to share the joys of engineering with you this summer!
Hi! I'm a PhD student in the Dabase Group at CSAIL. My research focuses on the performance of distributed databases, which are systems in which many computers work together to process huge amounts of data. Before coming to MIT, I majored in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie-Mellon University. I also spent a brief period designing computer processors at IBM. Outside of work I enjoy baking, running, playing board games, and exploring Boston. I also love logic puzzles, and you may get to see a few of my favorites in discrete math this summer!
Residential Tutors are current
female MIT undergraduates or MEng students.
They assist the WTP-EECS Instructors in the classroom, and also live
in the dormitory with the high school students, chaperoning residential
life, creating fun activities and field trips, and helping with homework.
Hey! I’m a rising senior studying course 18C, a combination of mathematics and computer science. When I’m not doing math, I can be found singing with the chamber chorus and my a cappella group, serving as Vice President of my sorority, raising money for women’s shelters through Stop Our Silence, working as an MIT tour guide, and doing linguistics research at the RLE (Research Laboratory of Electronics). When I have free time, I like to spend it reading and watching bad movies. I’m really excited to meet you guys! I love learning at MIT and I’m sure you all will too.
Hi everyone! My name is Quanquan, and I am very excited to be a Discrete Math Tutor at WTP this summer! To give a little bit of background about myself: I am currently a senior majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. I will be at MIT next year completing my MEng in theoretical computer science (a combination of my two favorite subjects--Math and CS) in CSAIL. I live at Epsilon Theta, which is an independent living group where you can meet friendly people, have interesting conversations, play (lots) of boardgames, and see an exorbitant amount of ducks. In my free time, I like to play boardgames and go running. I also go by 0101000101010001...
Hello everyone! I am a junior majoring in Mathematics. I am also interested in philosophy and music. In my free time, I sing with the MIT Concert Choir, take Zumba classes, read novels and watch various TV shows on Netflix. I am very excited about WTP and can't wait to meet you all!
Hi! I'm a rising junior studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I'm currently interested in the applied physics side of EE, and I'm looking to explore other fields next semester. I'm also minoring in music - I play the trumpet and a bit of piano. Activities I enjoy are square dancing, underwater hockey (I swear it's real) and playing lots of board games. I'm excited to meet you all and have a really fun summer!
Residential Assistants live in the dorm and help with evening and weekend activities, and assist with the final motor building project, but do not have other classroom or tutoring responsibilities. Residential Assistants are rising college sophomores; some attended WTP when they were in high school. They help make a warm community in the dorm and they organize residential activities and field trips into Boston and Cambridge.

Hi! I did WTP two summers ago, and I am beyond excited to be an RA this summer. I love to run, bake, cook, and craft. I am on MIT's cross country and track team, so I know a lot of great running routes around MIT. I can't wait for all of the adventures that we'll have this summer!
Hi! I am a computer science major from Southern California. I'm on the varsity track and cross country teams here at MIT so I love running and pride myself on knowing all of the best routes around Boston. Off the track and out of the classroom I love puppies, scary movies, Grey's Anatomy and coffee. I'm super excited to meet all of you this summer and have a group of people willing to eat the outrageous amount of baked goods I create.
Hi everyone! I'm majoring in 6-7 (Computer Science and Biology) and am really excited to be back in the WTP atmosphere (I attended in 2013). I'm part of the wind ensemble group on campus, Model UN, Peers Ears, and house government for my dorm, and in my free time I'm interested in foreign films, an eclectic array of music, cooking and many other things. This summer will be such an amazing journey for all of you and I'm so glad that I get to join you and grow with you all. WTP Director and WTP-EECS Track Coordinator
