Summer 2021 Instructors| Tutors and Program Facilitator | . Instructors
Hi everyone! I am a fifth year PhD candidate in the MIT EECS department working for Prof. Vladimir Bulovic. I'm interested in developing solar cells out of new materials so they can be put on lightweight or flexible substrates. Outside of the lab, I am obsessed with Star Wars and hiking. My biggest bucket list item is to see all of the US National Parks! Looking forward to building some cool circuits this summer!
I’m currently a second-year PhD student in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. I work with Dr. Lizhong Zheng on the topic of information theory and machine learning, which uses tools like probability to make conclusions about fundamental limits in transmitting and storing information. Outside of my work, I love swimming, watching movies, reading novels, and travelling. I am excited to meet you this summer and play with you in the interesting world of Python programming.
Tutors and Program Facilitator Tutors are current MIT or Wellesley students or recent graduates. They assist the WTP-EECS Instructors in the online classrooms and are eager to help students with homework and projects. The Program Facilitator and Tutors are all great sources of information about about their college experiences and majors. They help build a supportive, collaborative community and lead fun social activities outside of class time.
MIT Class of 2024
Chloe Shi Wellesley College Class of 2021 Hey everyone— My name is Chloe and I’m a student at Wellesley College (about 45 minutes from MIT). My undergrad research focuses on different instrumentation for space sciences, tackling questions like, “How can we confirm the surface of a telescope mirror is flawless?” or, “How can a spacecraft harness a lighter alternative to rocket fuel?” Turns out, the answer to those questions is electrical engineering! I’m currently living at home with my family, where I like to play videogames, sketch and paint, and chase around my sister’s dogs. Looking forward to meeting you all soon!
Jen Curtiss MIT Class of 2023
Hi everyone! I'm a rising junior in electrical engineering and computer science and potential minor in Japanese. I absolutely love video games (especially anything Nintendo) and spend most of my free time playing games on my switch! I also greatly enjoy playing board games, reading, making friendship bracelets, and traveling! I'm going to try to learn how to sail this summer, and will update on how that goes over the summer! I'm looking forward to this summer and getting to meet you all!
MIT Class of 2020, MEng 2021
Hi everyone! I’m a graduating MEng student at MIT concentrating in theoretical computer science. I spent some time in my early undergrad years as a Biological Engineering major before switching to EECS my junior year, and I’m excited to help you guys get exposure to the subject. As an undergrad, I minored in Spanish and was involved in the student literature magazine, and I was a member of cooking community in New House with Liz. In my free time, I love going for walks or hikes, playing with dogs, and watching Netflix.

Hello everyone!! I am a rising sophomore majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. My favorite things to do recently have been different types of Sudoku and watching podcasts. Since coming to campus, I have really enjoyed exploring Boston, bike riding, and trying new foods.
Shayna Ahteck MIT Class of 2023
I am a rising junior at MIT studying mechanical engineering with a concentration in electrical engineering and computer science. I’m interested in museums and human-computer interactive experiences. In my free time I teach lightsaber dueling, swim as a mermaid, build in Minecraft (check out the MIT Minecraft server!), and make a whole lot of side projects ranging from cosplay scale mail to telepresence robots. I’ll talk to you for a long time about MIT history and Science, Technology, and Society, my interdisciplinary minor. I’ll be tutoring WTP from my hometown Holmdel, NJ. Excited to meet you!
