of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science design and teach the
Women's Technology Program classes in Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering, and Discrete Math.
Sabrina Neuman
Discrete Math Instructor
Hometown: Santa Clarita, CA
I am a second-year graduate student. I did my Master's
research in the the Laboratory
for Electromagnetic and Electronic Systems (LEES) within
the Research
Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) . I am currently starting
my PhD research. I am an Electrical Engineer, and my research interests
are in smart meter sensors (to collect data on things like energy and
water usage in homes) and in low power and high performance digital electronics
design (to make computers and mobile devices smaller and better). I'm
from Southern California (where it's warm!), and went all the way out
east to MIT (where it's cold!) for college. When I'm not engineering,
I like to watch/act/help out with theatre, particularly Shakespeare,
and I sometimes play rugby. I think math is super cool because, as an
engineer, I consider it to be an essential tool that helps me understand
complex systems and build new things!
Michelle Sander
Electrical Engineering Instructor
Homecountry: Germany
I am a fourth year PhD student in the Optics
and Quantum Electronics Group in the Research
Laboratory of Electronics (RLE). My
research focuses on the development of compact laser sources (fiber based
and waveguide chips) to generate ultrashort pulses. In my spare time,
I enjoy playing the piano, exploring Boston, going to concerts and doing
sports. I am very excited about teaching WTP this summer and am looking
forward to meeting all of you!
Oshani Seneviratne
Computer
Science Instructor
Hometown: Colombo, Sri Lanka
I am a third year PhD student in the Decentralized
Information Group at CSAIL working with Tim Berners-Lee.
I study the semantic web, social media and policies on the web.
I grew up (mostly) in sunny Sri Lanka, but spent a significant
portion of my high school years in Europe and in Australia. I went
back to Sri Lanka for my undergraduate studies and majored in Computer
Science and Engineering. In my spare time I like to read, watch
movies, or just chill with friends. I am also an avid traveller.
I am very excited to be teaching for WTP this summer and looking
forward to meeting you all!
Residential Tutors
Residential Tutors are current
female MIT undergraduates, MEng students, or recent MIT graduates.
They assist the WTP-EECS Instructors in the classroom, and also live
in the dormitory with the high school students, chaperoning residential
life, creating fun activities and field trips, and helping with homework.

Majors: Computer Science and Engineering, and Mathematics
Hometown: Bydgoszcz,
Poland I am a graduating senior double
majoring in Computer Science and Math.
Next year,
I will be getting a Master's degree in CS here at MIT. I'm really excited
to meet you all and share my love for discrete math. During the summer,
I spend most of my free time outside, be it doing sports, reading, or
just relaxing. In the evenings I like to cook, watch movies and play
games. I'm also a huge soccer fan, so if you hang out with me, you might
get to see a lot of the World Cup games this year. Finally, my favorite
thing about the summer is just going for random walks in Boston. I
hope you will join me for many of them.

Class of 2012
Major: Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Hometown: Belgrade, Serbia
I'm a rising junior in course 6-2, Electrical Engineering
and Computer Science. I went to Mathematical high school in Serbia (far
away in Europe, but it's not the same thing as Siberia :)) and I was
a math geek, but then I discovered how much I love programming so I switched.
I discovered later how much I like robots, so I'm trying to combine those
two somehow. Besides CS and EE, I also love biology, drawing, singing,
fashion design, basketball, insects and chocolate, a loooot of chocolate.
I love different cultures and I'm obsessed with traveling to France or
Peru. I'm probably one of the tallest girls at MIT, but don't let my
size scare you because I'm actually quite nice. I'm lab assistant in
MIT class 6.01 (Introduction to EE and CS) and I enjoy teaching in this
field. That's why I can't wait to meet you girls. We're going to have
a lot of fun!

MIT Class of 2012
Major: Electrical Engineering
Hometown: Chicago, IL
I'm a rising junior majoring in Electrical Engineering.
I love all my classes right now, but my favorite is Microelectronics,
where I'm learning about various devices made of silicon. I enjoy teaching
about things I love even more than learning about them. Last summer
I taught a course on Robotics to a group of eigth graders. Also, I'm
an athlete - fitness and nutrition are very important to me, and blowing
off steam by exercising is the best part of my day. I play on MIT's
womens rugby team and in the fall we will need to defend our National
Championship title, so you can bet that I'll be staying in shape this
summer. In addition, I enjoy arts and crafts, especially making things
like origami. I can't wait to meet you all!

Class of 2012
Major: Mathematics with Computer Science
Hometown: New Berlin,
Wisconsin Hi! I'm Hilary, a soon-to-be junior in Mathematics with
Computer Science. When I came to MIT, I knew I loved math and biology
- then I discovered computer science and discovered that not only was
computer science really neat, it was also the perfect way to bridge my
scientific interests! During term, I have a research position doing computational
modeling of the behavior of the cardiovascular system. I like having
a broad range of interests: I am a member of MIT's Sport Taekwondo team
and the Vice President of MIT's Society for Women in Mathematics. In
my free time I dance ballet and sometimes even teach ballet classes,
read books about epidemics, and do work with technical theater stage
lighting and sound. MIT is an adventure and I am looking forward to sharing
what I've learned about computer science and college life with you.

Major: Computer Science
Hometown:
Corona, CA
I am a rising Junior the Computer Science
department. I came into MIT knowing nothing about computer science or programming,
but I'm really glad I learned more about it and decided to go with this major.
I can't wait for WTP this summer and the chance to share my newfound love of
computer science with others! Outside of class, one of my favorite parts of
MIT is being on the swim team. It's a lot of work, but totally worth it. Other
than that, my hobbies include video games, watching movies, drawing, and piano.
I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with my life after MIT, but I
think I still have plenty of time to choose. I can't wait to meet all of you
this summer!
