15.0. Overview

Use and programming of the Misc. Setup menu is described in this section. It is used to program values for the default screen colors, plotter modes, and network support.

15.10 Plotter Baud Rate

If a Hewlett-Packard plotter is being used in 'pass through mode' (see section 17.14), you will need to set the communications rate of the plotter.

15.11 Plotter Pass Through Mode

If you will be using 'pass through mode', you will have to turn this option to ON. It is reccomended that this option be left OFF unless it will be used because the sequence required to put PC-PLOT-IV in 'pass through mode' may appear in a normal data stream and the program would appear to hang up.

15.12 Alpha mode foreground color

This option selects the foreground color (color of a letter or character) when the hardware character set (VT-100/200 mode) is active.

15.13 Alpha mode background color

This option sets the color of the background (color around a character) when the hardware character set (VT-100/200 mode)is active.

15.14 IBM C/G border / bg color

If the display board being used is an IBM Color/Graphics board, the border color can be selected with this option.

15.15 IBM C/G current palette

If the display board is an IBM Color/Graphics board and it is being used in the
320 x 200 4 color mode, this option can be used to select the color palette (selects 3 of 6 color available) which will be used in graphics mode.

15.16 Network Host Name

This item defines a 16 character string which will be used by the NETBIOS interface as the name of the network host or the name of the network device that will be communicated with.

  15.17 Local Network Node Name

This item defines a 16 character string which will be used by the NETBIOS interface as the name of the local microcomputer running PC-PLOT-IV. This name will be added to the names in the network when PC-PLOT-IV is put in NETBIOS mode.

15.18 Screendump module

If the screendump module supplied with PC-PLOT will not function correctly with your printer or graphics board and you have a loadable device driver which will perform the screendump function when shft-printscreen is depressed, you can cause PC-PLOT-IV to not load its own screendump. Thus, if you load your hardware manufacturer's screendump before running PC-PLOT-IV, you should be able to perform the screendump function from inside PC-PLOT-IV.

15.19 VT-100 Attributes

The normal mode of operation of the VT-100 emulation is to define that modes 1, 4, 5, and 7 define bold, underline, blink, and reverse video respectively. The visual attribute setting is the default. If you want to have the display rendition command select
a color rather than a visual attribute, change this selection to Colors. The attributes will then be:

  Attrib #
  Visual Attrib
  Color

  normal
  wht fg/blue bg

  bold
  red fg/blue bg

  underline
  blu fg/red bg

  blink
  blu fg/wh bg

  reverse
  wht fg/grn bg

15.20 Printer port

If you are using a parallel printer, you will be able to specify that the printer data (from ALT-Y and screendump) be sent to LPT1 or LPT2.

15.21 Tektronix 4105/4027 Window Settings

The window settings select the amount of a picture that will be drawn on the screen. The default window is 4095 x 3119 for the 4105 mode and 2559 x 1919 for the 4027 mode.

If you specify a 4105 window of 0, 1023, 0, 779, the lower quarter of the picture will be drawn but scaled so that it fills the entire screen.
