Being a service fraternity, our main purpose for existing is to provide service to others. Our service program offers a myriad of different types of service: building cabins at local scout camps, helping out in shelters and soup kitchens, running our biannual book exchange, making blankets for children with cancer, and anything else our brothers and pledges can imagine! All of our scheduled service projects are group projects, since group projects help us develop leadership and friendship -- two of our cardinal principles -- through service. However, we do pass on opportunities for individual service to our members, and we encourage our members to take advantage of these opportunities.
The chapter has grand plans for this term. Look at our schedule: What's Up with Alpha Phi Omega for more details.
We are always eager to hear about new opportunities for service, especially group service. If you would like to tell us of potential service projects, please email us at apo _at_ mit.edu; we'd love to hear from you!
