Musée d'Orsay

The Musée d'Orsay sits within the former Gare d'Orsay, a huge train station whose architecture was maintained in the museum's transformation. There are rooms full of famous paintings, including an entire floor dedicated to the Impressionists. We recognized works by Manet, Millet, Courbet, Degas, Renoir, Monet, Pisarro, Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec... It was one famous piece after another, as though the curators' intentions were to awe the visitors. While we were there, we also saw a large exhibit on Maurice Denis, a Symbolist painter from the post-Impressionism period.
