In order to keep in touch after MIT and start an old girls network to rival the old boys network, some Wphys alum have put together a group on the networking site LinkedIn. The group is open to all female graduate students (past and present), all female postdocs and all female faculty and technical staff of the MIT Physics department. Our hope is that people will use the group to:

  • reconnect with old friends
  • seek advice on transitioning from grad school to industry, grad school to postdoc, postdoc to staff
  • match up in a relaxed way with possible mentors

    • How to join:

  • Go to LinkedIn website.
  • Sign up for an account or sign in.
  • Search for the group "MIT Wphys".
  • Request to join the group. You may need to be approved by the current group administrator.

    • Infinite Connection ICAN

    - Go to MIT Infinite Connection ICAN website.

    - Click on "Search" ICAN database

    - At this point, you need to have an account on Infinite Connection. This should not be a problem for all MIT affliates.

    - In "Browse by Category", select first "Student Activity", then "Academic Groups", scroll down until you find "Graduate Women in Physics". This should pull up all alums who've elected this in their characteristics.
