"So I went with Tivol and Thug to the Converse outlet in Malden on Wednesday. Tivol'd been really excited to go, he said, ever since he found out Chuckies were made in Massachusetts. 'Cons', he calls them, not 'Chuckies'. He thinks 'Chuckies' is stupid. Anyway, I knew he was going to be let down, but we went anyway, because he was so excited. He was taking orders from his folks and his dorm, even. He totally expected a bunch of different, discontinued models and cool patterns and stuff. Instead they just had normal Chuckies at normal prices, and he was really bummed. But, he did buy the black-on-black Chuckies that he wanted. You know, like that pair I had four years ago? Yeah, he said he'd only seen them once before and was on the lookout for them ever since. He also wanted a Chuck Taylor Converse All-Star T-Shirt, with the big Chuckie Star on them. He'd seen one a year back and couldn't find one in the store at all. He wanted a T-shirt and finally picked one that he said would look good with suspenders. Tivol was so sad in that tiny, lousy store. But he made the best of it, I guess. He's got his Converse outfit all set for his big trip this weekend.
