The opening band for Moxy was so-so. The Nields were not that interesting, and their sound was turned up so high, we couldn't understand the female vocals. Unfortunately, there were almost exclusively female vocals in all their songs. Their lead singer looked like reminded everyone of Steven Tyler of Aerosmith fame, with her straight black hair, angular face, and tight black vinyl pants stretched over skinny toothpick legs. She didn't sway around or perform jumpkicks with the microphone stand in hand, but she had the look to her.

The whole nature of the crowd changed when Moxy came on stage. Instead of standing around indifferently, they all pushed as far to the front as possible and stared with intent. When the four band members walked on stage, everyone cheered like maniacs. Soon the crowd was bopping around in time with the music, singing along happily. A few dedicated souls brought Chinese YoYos to flick in the sky when Moxy sang the "Spiderman" theme song. When the second encore, "The Drinking Song", came, we all put our arms around each other's shoulders, forming great lines of swaying, singing, Früheads. I was next to two 5'1" girls, so I had to stoop over to sway back and forth, but it all worked out okay. A fabulous show, and another stamp on my Frühead Card.
