Master of Science

Eight Master of Science degree programs are offered at Masdar Institute:

MIT faculty review the quality of theses produced under the Masdar Institute Master of Science degree programs, and Masdar Institute graduates receive a certificate jointly from MIT and MI in addition to their diploma from Masdar Institute.


Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program

The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) at the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has granted  the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology initial accreditation to offer an Interdisciplinary Doctoral Degree Program (IDDP).

The President of Masdar Institute explains that "the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Degree Program is designed to allow students the flexibility to respond to complex problems by crossing the boundaries of more than one scientific or technical academic program. With the support of the country's leadership, Masdar Institute has gradually increased the number of highly specialized programs offered to students. The accreditation for the doctoral program reflects the growing stature of Masdar Institute among the higher education institutions and we encourage students to fully utilize the academic options we provide."

The PhD in Interdisciplinary Engineering will be awarded by Masdar Institute to all PhD candidates who have completed the IDDP requirements. The specific title of the PhD thesis is determined by the IDDP Research Supervisory Committee (RSC) of the PhD candidate and is included in the PhD degree.

Through the IDDP, Masdar Institute aims to produce doctoral graduates with an ability to work across multiple disciplines to solve complex problems and adopt a global approach to solving complex scientific and technical challenges. It also seeks to develop knowledge and skills for independent research, while developing a unique academic, professional and career focus.
