Masdar Institute's academic programs are closely linked to cooperative program research projects for synergy.
Master of Science degree programs at Masdar Institute are housed in four academic departments:

MIT faculty review the quality of theses produced under the Masdar Institute Master of Science degree programs and Masdar Institute graduates receive a certificate jointly from MIT and MI in addition to their diploma from Masdar Institute.
Masdar Institute has received initial accreditation from the Commission of Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It currently has more than a hundred students enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Engineering Program.
A subset of Masdar Institute Ph.D. students will have an MIT faculty member on their Research Advisory Committee. In addition a small subset of these Ph.D. students may come to MIT under the auspices of the "MI/MIT Ph.D. Student Exchange Program for one Academic Semester at MIT."
