SMA offers only one direct PhD degree programme: the Computation and Systems Biology (CSB) programme that leads to either an NUS or NTU PhD degree. The degree is conferred by the Singapore university that the main Thesis Advisor is affiliated to. Graduates will also receive an SMA certificate jointly endorsed by the Singapore and MIT Programme Co-Chairs and Co-Directors.
The PhD degree requires about four years to complete and comprises both course-work and research components. Students conceive their research topics in consultation with both MIT and Singapore faculty members, who are also involved in co-supervising the research projects.
