Sarah Fay
Hi! My name is Sarah. I'm a second year graduate student in MechE. My research is about sports technology. I'm finishing up a project about rackets and am starting one about running shoes. Extracurricularly, I also spend a lot of time with sports. I assistant coach the field hockey team, and I play club water polo. I spend the rest of my free time cooking, watching silly TV shows, and doing puzzles. I'm from Western Massachusetts, and I did my undergrad at MIT. This will be my 5th summer with WTP. I was a student on the EECS track and have been a residential tutor for ME twice. This will be my second summer as an ME instructor. I'm super excited to spend the summer getting to know all of you and showing you the awesome curriculum and activities the program has to offer!

Andie Lehn
Hello, there! I am a PhD student in MechE at MIT. My research focuses on biological fluid dynamics, particularly the hydrodynamics of aquatic locomotion. My work currently includes pointing lasers at fish (pew! pew!). In 2015, I graduated with a BS in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Philosophy from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. I also studied abroad at The University of Melbourne in Melbourne, Australia. My hobbies include running, drinking coffee (these are perhaps related) and, my favorite, practicing hot yoga. I’m originally from Orlando, FL, which may explain why I enjoy yoga in a humid room heated to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. I am ecstatic to teach, learn and grow with the WTP team!

Kristi Oki
Hello! My name is Kristi and I am a second year Master's student in Mechanical Engineering. In my research I am investigating interdisciplinary experience and creative abilities of engineering students. I also have experience with product design and medical device design. I'm originally from Connecticut and I enjoy teaching, design, and crafting. I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you this summer!

Residential Tutors

Lexi Jones
Hi! My name is Lexi; I'm from Naperville, Illinois (it's about an hour outside of Chicago). Currently, I am doing my undergrad in mechanical engineering with a focus on management; I am just finishing my sophomore year. I am also Vice President of Event Planning for my sorority, Pi Beta Phi. In addition, I play water polo, and when I have free time (which is not as often as I would like), I like to binge watch Netflix. I am so excited to meet you all this summer!

Roget Mo
Hi there! I’m a graduating senior with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. I hail from Colorado and as such love mountains, hikes, and sunsets! In my free time, I enjoy dancing, taking pictures, and trying new recipes. I also like collecting quotes, so if you have any good ones, please send them my way! I’m looking forward to meeting you all!

Ellen Mulé
Hi! I am a rising senior studying Mechanical and Ocean Engineering. I’m from Northern Virginia and I am a huge DC sports fan (especially Capitals/Nationals). Outside of academics, I am a member of the MIT Varsity Field Hockey team. I am also in the Navy ROTC program, so after graduation I will become an officer in the United States Navy. I am hoping to either serve on submarines or become a pilot! In my free time I love playing sports, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. I am so excited for this summer and I cannot wait to meet all of you!

Heather Soukup
Hi, I'm Heather and I'll be graduating in Mechanical Engineering this year! In the Fall I'll be going to Spain to work abroad and after that probably Mexico, though I am originally from Wisconsin. I really like to paint and art and talk about painting and drawing and arting. I'm pretty into Ultimate Frisbee and running if you ever want a buddy to do this stuff with :) . It'll be great to hang with you all and get to learn about Mechanical Engineering together!

Becky Steinmeyer
Hey there!  I’m a graduating senior studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Ancient and Medieval Studies.  I’m originally from Chicago, and next year I’m headed to grad school to do research in robotics and controls.  I’m a member of MIT Motorsports, and outside of engineering, I enjoy distance running and playing the violin.  I absolutely love MIT and mechanical engineering, and I can’t wait to share them with you this summer—see you soon!

Hannah Zlotnick
Hello everyone! I am a graduating senior at MIT, and in August I will begin my PhD in Bioengineering at UPenn. At MIT, I minored in Mechanical Engineering and majored in Biological Engineering. I spent 3.5+ years working in the Center for Biomedical Engineering doing undergraduate research in cartilage tissue engineering and biomechanics. Using a hydrogel and cells, I grew cartilage samples in vitro and performed many tests to assess the biological and mechanical properties of the engineered tissue. Outside of the lab, I played on the MIT Women’s Varsity Soccer team for three years and I am a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. I love traveling and luckily received many opportunities to go abroad while at MIT. On separate trips I spent time in London, Madrid, Sorrento, and Athens! Other interests of mine include eating good food, spending time outdoors, and crafting. I am looking forward to this summer and meeting you all!!

Residential Assistant

Ginny Rosenberger
Hi, I’m Ginny! I’m a rising sophomore at MIT studying brain and cognitive sciences. I was a WTP-ME student two summers ago, which was an amazing experience. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone while exploring engineering and Boston together! In my free time, I enjoy singing (usually Disney and musical theater songs) and creative writing (science fiction and fantasy are my favorites). I also love animals (cats!), coffee (we’re probably all going to need the caffeine), laughing at really silly/bad jokes (often made by me), and baking yummy things (I hope you guys don’t mind if I make a lot of food). Can’t wait to meet you all!

WTP Associate Director & WTP-ME Track Coordinator

Dr. Barbara Hughey joined the Mechanical Engineering Department in 2002 as Lab Manager for the junior-level 2.671 Measurement and Instrumentation Course. She is a graduate of Princeton University (BSE 1981 in Engineering Physics) and MIT (PhD 1989 in Physics). After receiving her Ph.D she worked in the Boston area developing accelerator-based instruments, primarily for medical applications. She is a dedicated violinist, having served as concertmaster of both the Princeton and MIT Orchestras, as well as having been an active participant in the MIT Chamber Music Society. She is a member of the Council for the Arts at MIT and is treasurer of and performs with the Lexington Symphony. She is also an Overseer at the Boston Museum of Science. She has two children: one graduated from the Biological Engineering Department at MIT in 2013 and is presently an MD/PhD student in Pittsburgh, and the other graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2014 with a degree in Vocal Performance and is presently a singer/songwriter in Nashville. When she has free time, she enjoys traveling, knitting, reading science fiction, hiking, and bird watching. bhughey@mit.edu
