Sydney Sroka
I’m really excited to be part of the WTP team this year! I’m a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering researching hurricane intensity prediction; specifically I’m simulating the hurricane spray layer to understand how heat moves from the ocean to the air so it can power the hurricane. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and did my undergrad at UC, San Diego where I majored in structural engineering. I love jogging outside, listening to audiobooks, doodling, and playing board games and card games. I’m really excited to get to know all of you this summer, it’s going to be so much fun!

Jessica Van Brummelen
Hello! I'm a second year graduate student in computer science. (Wait -- did you say computer science? Yep, I did my undergrad in mechanical engineering, and then decided to switch it up and do a PhD in CS.) During my undergrad, I researched self-driving cars, control systems, and robotics. Now I'm working in MIT's App Inventor Lab to allow anyone to create their own mobile apps, connected robots, and artificial intelligence. If you couldn't already tell, I love combining mechanical systems and computers! In my free time, I like to ice skate, play video games, and build things. Can't wait to meet you all!

Georgia Van de Zande
Hey guys! My name is Georgia, and I just finished my master's in MechE. Right now, I'm teaching Toy Product Design, a class where freshmen design and build new toys! It's a fun MechE introduction, and I can't to have just as much fun exploring MechE in WTP! My master's work focused on engineering education, and I spent a lot of time working with 2.009, a class for seniors in MechE where students work in large teams (18 people per team!) to bring new consumer products to life. In my free time, I like exploring Boston, doing ceramics, swimming, and hanging out in the MIT Toy Lab.

Danielle Gleason
Hi everyone! I’m Danielle and I’m a rising junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Global Development and a minor in Linguistics! I traveled to Botswana for a global development class this past January and plan to continue to travel as much as possible in the future. In my free time, I love to cook yummy food in the tiny dorm kitchens (woo!), attempt to play ukulele, and spend as much time as possible in or near the Charles River. I can't wait for this summer, and I’m super excited to get to know all of you!

Andrea Gonzalez
Hello! My name is Andrea. I’m a graduating senior in Mechanical Engineering. I’m from Mexico/South Texas, and next year I’ll be starting grad school at UC San Diego for Structural Engineering. At MIT, I’m a member of dance troupe and the gymnastics club team. In my free time, I enjoy weightlifting, rock climbing, and making a variety of personal projects. I’m a huge fan of both woodworking and metalworking. I built my own electrical guitar at the MIT Hobby Shop, and I’m doing my undergraduate thesis on forge welding at MIT’s Merton C. Flemings Materials Processing Laboratory. I’m very excited to work with you all over the summer!

Sherri Green
Hey there! I'm Sherri, and I'm a graduating senior studying Mechanical Engineering. After WTP, I'll be working at GE Healthcare, after a brief stint in the fall interning in Spain and practicing my Spanish! Outside of engineering, I spend most of my time cooking, reading, going on exploratory walks around random places, ice skating, and (best of all) sleeping. I also love to hike, play tennis, and bask in the sunshine. Looking forward to meeting you all this summer -- see you soon!

Michelle Kornberg
My name is Michelle, and I'm a rising junior in 2OE - Mechanical and Ocean Engineering, and I particularly enjoy marine robotics. I spent this past spring break on a research ship with my Field Oceanography class taking water samples in the Florida Straits and how to sail a 130-foot boat! I play the oboe and will probably end up with a Music minor (if I ever remember to fill out that form, of course). I also play volleyball on the club team and am a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. I love being outdoors, and during the winter I love to skate, but I also spend a lot of my time baking, knitting and crocheting, and listening to music. I am slowly but surely memorizing one Broadway musical after another so if you have recommendations, be sure to let me know :)
