The clue
scanner device can be broken down into five major subassemblies:

Enclosure:
The outer body of the scanner.
Sliders:
The opening mechanism behind how the two end caps of the flip-top glasses
case "pop" open.
EL
Lights :
A beam of light analogous to copy machines and real life scanners that
gives the illustion of scanning.
Symbols
Lighting:
The stack up behind getting the diffused lighting from a few LEDs.
Electronics:
The "guts" of the scanner, includes: RFID module, microprocessor,
EL light inverter, battery, and USB port.
