Campus and USPS Mail Services
Mail Services is a full-service mail house offering fast and reliable mailing services within the Institute, across the country, and around the world.
Basic Services
- Outgoing envelopes (all sizes, paper contents only)
- Mail drop-off boxes around campus (see below) are generally for both USPS and interdepartmental envelopes (no packages).
- Be sure to provide postage, either stamps or a cost object (write the cost object on the top right corner of the envelope, where a stamp would be).
- MIT Mail Services can process FedEx envelopes and packages brought to the Mail Room in the Ray and Maria Stata Center (32 Vassar Street) when a cost object is included.
- Incoming envelopes (all sizes)
- Pick up incoming USPS and interdepartmental mail at the Mail Room which services your building.
- For buildings not serviced by a Mail Room, mail is delivered directly in bulk to a designated mail drop location, generally the front desk (also, your building may have its own self-managed mail room for distribution).
- Make sure you are providing the correct delivery address to vendors! Always include your building number and room number when you provide a delivery address.
- Note: Incoming USPS mail services to campus residences are provided by the Division of Student Life, not MIT Mail Services.
Mail Rooms
Most MIT buildings are serviced by a designated Mail Services Mail Room. Mail Services delivers your building’s USPS and interdepartmental mail to this location to be picked up by you or someone in your department.
- Get the details and location of your building’s Mail Room.
- Many campus Mail Rooms have Recycling Stations with bins for technocycle, batteries, and plastic film.
