Joining a Zoom Meeting

Zoom is the audio, web and whiteboarding conferencing tool that offers a set of services that provides audio, video, and text options. Accessed via the web, mobile device or desktop client, participants may hold a virtual meeting or webinar, share files or use screen sharing to show presentations, applications, or other web sites. It is available to all MIT community members with an MIT Kerberos ID and the ability to authenticate with Touchstone

  1. Double-click on the Zoom app icon on your computer desktop. (Macintosh and Home PC users can download the Zoom app here.)

  2. Click Sign In

  3. Click Sign in with SSO

  4. Sign in with SSO using the Company Domain mit.zoom.us

  5. Use your MIT Personal Certificate or enter your Kerberos credentials

  6. Complete your DUO two-factor authentication

  7. Click your profile image in the top-right to edit your profile and settings

  8. Click Join and enter a meeting ID or personal link name

  9. "Choose ONE of the audio conferenceo options" Phone Call or Computer Audio.

  10. You will have the chance to Test Speaker and Microphone. You may be prompted to enable microphone access in your computer settings. Do so if you will be using your microphone for Zoom meetings.

Setting up Outlook Calendar & Contacts Integration

  1. Sign into Zoom

  2. Click Profile

  3. In the Calendar and Contact Integration section, click Connect to Calendar and Contact Service

  4. Select Exchange or Office 365 and check Allow Zoom to get calendar event and Allow Zoom to sync up contacts If you don't know if you are a Exchange or Office 365 user, ask a member of VPF Tech.

  5. Click Next

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to allow Exchange or Office 365 to access your contacts. If you are an Exchange user enter the EWS URL provided. If you are a Office 365 user enter your Touchstone credentials and use two-factor authentication as required:

    • Exchange login username or UPN: Enter the MIT email address
    • Exchange login password: Enter the Kerberos password
    • Exchange Version: Select Exchange 2016
    • EWS URL: Enter https://owa.exchange.mit.edu/EWS/Exchange.asmx
  7. After allowing access, you will be redirected back to the Zoom web portal which will indicate that calendar or contacts sync is enabled

  8. You will need to sign out of your desktop client and sign in again for the integration to take effect
