Noteworthy Information

Alcohol Service — On-campus pubs (The Thirsty Ear, The Muddy Charles, and the R&D Pub) have licenses for beer and wine service. For all other locations, please refer to the section in this manual under Events Registration titled "Serving Alcohol at Events" p.35 and the section titled "Entertainment and Liquor Licenses" p.38.

Food Safety and Sanitation — If you or a number of your guests are preparing food for your event please refer to studentlife.mit.edu/sole for the food safety handbook. If you are using a CAC space and plan to have more than 35 guests in attendance food cannot be homemade. The event must have food provided by an on-campus or local caterer, local restaurant, or supermarket.

Insurance — Internal providers have insurance coverage on file with the Institute. If you are using an outside caterer who will be serving food/beverages at your event, the caterer will need to provide you with a copy of their insurance certificate showing proof of million-dollar general liability coverage. If your event is in a CAC space, you will need to provide a copy of this certificate to CAC.

Payments — MIT payments for food may be processed by department credit card or requisition. Catering services should be arranged directly with individual caterers, not through the Campus Dining office or the foodstuff@mit.edu email address. Please contact the caterers listed above for information. A list of caterers can be found online at dining.mit.edu/catering.

Food Trucks — All food trucks need to be registered to operate within the City of Cambridge. Please call 617-253-2706 or email foodstuff@mit.edu for more information.
