FAQs in currently random order:
- What do I do if I forget my ID? - See Luda (2nd floor office near elevators) to sign out a temporary ID.
- Can't I just use my friends' ID? - No. Doing so is a serious violation.
- Where do I get wafers and supplies from? - Certain wafers and supplies (e.g. 6" or 4" standard wafers, notebooks) are stocked and can be purchased at nominal cost from MTL. See Luda (2nd floor office near elevators). You will need to fill out a purchase form - so you need to know which MIT account to charge this against (you may need to ask your advisor for that).
Rules & Reasons:
- Why can't I take my cell phone out of my pocket in the cleanroom? - Unzipping your cleanroom suit releases a large amount of particles. You must go back to the gowning area, take out your phone there, and change your gloves.
- Can I use my cell phone in the lab? - Yes, but you must wipe it with isopropyl alcohol in the entry area. Also, if you have a cell phone case filled with dust and grease, please remove it, as wiping doesn't clean that.
- Why can't use the PC or phone with the acid PPE on? - In the past, small drops of residues have contaminated non-acid-hood equiment, resulting in injury to other users (acid exposure!). Often, you won't see these drops on the gloves, apron, face shield. Thus, you need to remove it before doing anything else in the lab - even if that may seem annoying.
