Event Regulations

Insurance

MIT is self-insured. Any MIT person holding events on campus has the responsibility to minimize risk. The Insurance Office should be engaged to discuss activities that would put attendees and others at risk. In addition, event planners should get copies of appropriate insurance from vendors. If you are not sure what you need, visit the Insurance Office website, http://insurance.mit.edu/services/events-management, for helpful links and other information.

The following activities are not supported by the Insurance Office:

  • Aerial Silk
  • Mechanical rides
  • Slack lining
  • Climbing walls of any kind
  • Inflatable bungee run

When participating in events requiring a liability release/waiver please insert description and date for the event on this waiver, http://insurance.mit.edu/forms. Copies of signed waivers must be stored for at least 3 years. Also, you should meet with EHS to determine if a safety plan is needed.
