Integrated Photonic Devices and Materials Group

Aleksandra Markina was a member of Prof. Kolodziejski's research group from 1998 to 2005 earning a Ph.D. in 2005 and a Masters of Engineering in 2001 from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. She conducted research in the design and simulation of a high speed optical logic gate using the beam propagation method, finite difference time domain simulations as well as custom Matlab code modeling semiconductor optical amplifiers resulting in her Ph.D. thesis titled "Design and Simulation for the Fabrication of Integrated Semiconductor Optical Logic Gates" and M.S.E.E. thesis titled "The development of III-V single-mode lasers based on semiconductor optical amplifier heterostructures." She is currently employed at Mitre Corp.
