Integrated Photonic Devices and Materials Group

Jay Damask was a member of Prof. Kolodziejski's and Prof. Haus' research group from 1991 to 1997 earning a Ph.D. in 1997 and a Masters of Science in 1993 from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He conducted research in the development of channel dropping filters (add-drop filter) for wavelength demultiplexing applications including the design, fabrication, and molecular beam epitaxy deposition of the filters resulting in a Ph.D. thesis titled "Integrated-Optic Grating-Based Filters For Optical Communication Systems" and a M.S.E.E. thesis titled "A new photonic device--the integrated resonant channel-dropping filter." In 2005, he authored the book "Polarization Optics in Telecommunications." He is currently self-employed.
